Jews before the Imperial Court of Justice
For centuries, the Imperial Court of Justice occupied a unique position in the constitutional life of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation due to its wide-ranging remit. Together with the Imperial Chamber Court, the authority formed the highest jurisdiction of the empire.
Dr. Tobias Schenk from the Lower Saxony Academy of Sciences in Göttingen is researching the extent to which Jews appealed to the imperial court, both individually and corporately, and will be sharing his research findings with us this evening.
