Internationalization Team

The Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies (HfJS) is characterized by a high degree of internationalization, for example by offering part of its teaching in English as part of an international cooperation course and through the internal internationalization initiatives it has pursued in recent years. On this basis, the university aims to continuously develop as a European competence center for Jewish Studies with the aim of opening up new perspectives for academic transfer at both national and international level.

The HfJS currently maintains institutional partnerships with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel), the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva (Israel), the Karl-Franzens University of Graz (Austria) and the Paideia Institute in Stockholm (Sweden). In addition, working partnerships with locations in Argentina, the UK, France, Italy, Canada and the USA have already been established with individual chairs at the university.

To further expand the internal and external internationalization of the HfJS, the new Internationalization Office was set up and began its work in December 2022. It provides administrative support to the university management in the maintenance and further development of existing international collaborations and cooperative study programs as well as in the initiation of new exchange programs for lecturer and student mobility. It also coordinates cooperation with Heidelberg University in the area of internationalization and develops a long-term sustainable internationalization strategy at institutional level.
