The long-term project (12 years; 2018-29) Corpus Masoreticum: Die Inkulturation der Masora in die jüdische Gelehrsamkeit Westeuropas im 11.-13. Jh. Digitale Erschließung einer vergessenen Wissenskultur at the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies is seeking to fill the position of an
research assistant (qualified or unqualified)
(m/f/d; at least 20 hours / month)
to be filled. The position is initially limited until 31.07.2027, whereby an extension is possible. The position is open to students who are enrolled at the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies, Heidelberg University or another university in Germany.
The long-term project Corpus Masoreticum: Die Inkulturation der Masora in die jüdische Gelehrsamkeit Westeuropas im 11.-13. Jh. Digitale Erschließung einer vergessenen Wissenskultur (Corpus Masoreticum: The Inculturation of the Masora in Jewish Scholarship in Western Europe in the 11th-13th Centuries ), which was established by the German Research Foundation in 2018, is the first comprehensive project dedicated to the edition, processing and documentation of the Western European (Ashkenazi) Masora tradition between the 11th and 13th centuries. it differs from the oriental masora not only philologically, but also in its external appearance as a masora figurata, which indicates that the masora was received in a very special way among the Jews of Western Europe.
The tasks include:

- Assistance with work in the BIMA2 database
- Organization of events

In the project "Bible glossaries as hidden cultural carriers. Judeo-French Cultural Exchange in the High Middle Ages" project is seeking to fill one or two positions at the earliest possible date as
qualified or unqualified research assistant
(m/f/d; scope of 30-80 hours / month)
in the field of Jewish Studies. The position is initially limited to twelve months, whereby an extension is possible. The vacancy is primarily aimed at students who are enrolled at the Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies or the University of Heidelberg.
The Judaic-romanistic project (duration end 2040) is dedicated for the first time to the comprehensive edition, processing and documentation of medieval Hebrew-French Bible glossaries. The linguistic and literary tradition documented here will be analyzed for the first time by an interdisciplinary team in terms of its cultural, linguistic and theological-historical significance.
The tasks include

Positions in the non-scientific area
The Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies is seeking to fill the position of
Administrative Staff Member (m/f/d) in the Secretariat (part-time position, 50%)
is available, initially for a fixed term of one year. Continued employment is anticipated.
The scope of responsibilities includes, in particular:
- General and rectorate-specific secretarial tasks, such as handling mail (German, English), scheduling, monitoring deadlines, handling phone calls and correspondence (German, English), filing, receiving and hosting visitors, room management, website maintenance, taking minutes, preparing for and following up on meetings
- business travel management and travel expense reimbursement for the Rector’s Office, and assisting all university staff members with business travel requests
- Supporting the Rector’s Office with procurement processes
- Point of contact for telephone and Zoom services, management of the university calendar
- Acting on behalf of the Student Affairs Office and assisting with student matters
- Assisting the IT department with setting up computer access and email accounts
Your Profile:
- Relevant completed vocational training or experience in managing a secretariat
- Good command of German and English
- Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally

Requirements:

- a degree in Jewish Studies, History, or a related humanities discipline,

- Proficiency in English and, if possible, basic knowledge of Hebrew and/or Yiddish (knowledge of the alphabet is desirable).
