“Media Literacy in the Context of the Middle East Conflict” – Initial Findings from the Study

History of the Jewish people Information Event

We cordially invite you to our evening event. As part of the project “Media Literacy in the Context of the Middle East Conflict,” we will present the initial findings of our interview study and discuss with you how young people perceive the Middle East conflict on social media, what content they encounter, and how they deal with it.

Through more than 120 interviews with students aged 16 and older from various types of schools, as well as college students, we examined the challenges this poses for education, the promotion of media literacy, and the prevention of extremism. Based on these findings, we plan to develop argumentation training programs for young people, educators, and community leaders.

The project is led by Rabbi Prof. Dr. Birgit Klein (Heidelberg College of Jewish Studies) and Prof. Dr. Havva Engin (Heidelberg University of Education). It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth as part of the federal program “Demokratie leben!”

The event will take place both in person and online. The venue will be announced after registration. Since in-person seating is limited, please register using the button below.

Please indicate whether you would like to attend in person or online.

We look forward to seeing you there and to exchanging ideas with you!
