The research colloquium begins ...

News

Research related to Israel is strongly represented in the new research colloquium.
While other universities tend to steer clear of Israel—despite their focus on the Middle East, Semitic studies, Islamic studies, or Oriental studies—the HfJS once again demonstrates its USP (Unique Selling Point).

October 14, 2026: Prof. Johannes Becke —Book Presentation: This Is Not Europe—How Israel Became Part of the Middle East

December 16, 2026: Prof. Dani Kranz – October 7, Anti-Semitism, and Criticism of Israel: Guilt, Innocence, Post-Guilt

January 13, 2027: Niusha Hajian – The Enemy of [My] Enemy: Iranian Dissident Perspectives on Middle Eastern Conflicts

February 3, 2027: Fabiola Ermer – Think Tanks, Education, and Democratic Backsliding: Building Illiberal Hegemonies in Israel and Hungary

The colloquium takes place every Wednesday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in S4. Admission is free; registration is not required.

We look forward to seeing many of you there!
