Symposium: Which river and which sea?
October 7, 2023 and its consequences also pose major challenges for the German education system: How do we talk about the Arab-Israeli conflict - or do we prefer to avoid the topic? How do we deal with the radicalization of young people via social media - and how do we deal with a noticeable shift in discourse among colleagues? What materials can we work with - and how can educators in school and political education acquire the necessary specialist knowledge for difficult discussions? The symposium "Which river and which sea?" aims to provide initial answers to these questions and build a bridge between science and educational work on the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The conference is a cooperation between the education department of the Central Council of Jews, the Heidelberg University for Jewish Studies and the Anne Frank Educational Center.
It is aimed at teachers, educators from school and extracurricular educational work and civil society as well as employees of Jewish communities.
The symposium will take place in Frankfurt am Main. It begins on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 2:00 pm and ends on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 around 5:30 pm.
If required, the Central Council of Jews will provide overnight accommodation (including breakfast) in a single room from July 1 - 2, 2025.
The participation fee for the symposium with overnight stay is € 100. For local residents who do not require overnight accommodation and students who submit a current certificate of study, the participation fee is €50.
Please note that participation in the entire conference is mandatory in order for the conference and catering costs to be covered.
