Die Alte Synagoge der Stadt Essen - Haus jüdischer Kultur - leistet als Erinnerungs-, Bildungs- und Begegnungsort die Vermittlung jüdischer Geschichte, Religion und Kultur. Zur Erweiterung und Weiterentwicklung der mobilen Bildungsarbeit suchen wir eine engagierte wissenschaftliche und pädagogische Fachkraft, die die Entwicklung und Ausgestaltung der Jewish City Tour Essen konzeptionell umsetzt und ebenso die digitale Umsetzung begleitet.
The National Library of Israel's Scriptorium Fellowship for PhD and Post Doctorate Students

The program, established and led by Prof. Vered Noam, is aimed at PhD candidates and post-doctorate researchers residing in Israel during the 2026/2027 academic year. Scriptorium brings together emerging scholars from abroad who are conducting research in Israel, forming a vibrant and inquisitive academic community.
Scriptorium participants also receive:
· Official affiliation with the National Library of Israel
· A number of benefits reserved for researchers, including access to the researchers-only area in the NLI Ilona and Hugo Lowy Reading Halls
· The opportunity to work in proximity to the NLI’s unparalleled collections
· Personal consultations with Library staff (curators and librarians)
· Regular seminars for presenting and discussing research

Candidates must be physically present in Israel for at least one of the two semesters in the 2026/27 academic year. Their research area must relate to the NLI's five core collections (Judaica, Israel, Islam and the Middle East, music, and general humanities).
The Martin Buber Society of Fellows in the Humanities and Social Sciences
Call for Applications for the Academic Year 2027-2028

The Martin Buber Society of Fellows aims at fostering interdisciplinary academic discourse at the highest level among outstanding young scholars (post-doctoral). Candidates who have completed their PhD at an Israeli or German university, as well as citizens of Israel or Germany who have received their PhD in any country, are eligible to apply. Applicants must have their PhD degree in hand no earlier than October 1st, 2022, and no later than July 1st, 2027.1 Application is open for those specializing in all fields of the Humanities and the Social Sciences.2 We are looking for creative humanists and social scientists with broad intellectual horizons. No connection of the subject matter to Jewish studies or Israel is required.

Taking Ha-Dover as its point of departure rather than its sole subject, the conference uses this singular print record to open a much broader set of questions: It serves as a platform for comparative analysis across Jewish communities of the Middle East and North Africa and across broader nineteenth-century histories of print, mobility, diaspora networks, and modernity. We particularly welcome papers that explore how newspapers shaped new forms of collective imagination and public authority, and how local presses mapped geographies and connections across overlapping regional and imperial spaces (e.g., Persia, India, Ottoman provincial circuits, and oceanic corridors). We also invite work on how debates over language, governance, education, gender, philanthropy, and everyday moral economies unfolded within these emerging publics.

Die Tagung Intimitäten. Familie und Sexualität in jüdischer Kultur- und Literaturgeschichte Ost und Mitteleuropas (1900-1945) fragt, wie Intimität in europäisch-jüdisch geprägten Räumen reguliert, religiös normiert, sozial praktiziert, literarisch verhandelt und kulturell gedeutet wurde. Familie erscheint dabei nicht als gegebene Einheit, sondern als Beziehungsgefüge und soziale Kategorie (vgl. Bourdieu 1996), in der Verwandtschaft und Zugehörigkeit ebenso ausgehandelt werden wie Begehren, Fürsorge, Verpflichtung, Konflikt und soziale Normen.

Every two years LAJSA holds its International Research Conference to bring together scholars from multiple disciplines and geographical regions whose work focuses on the lives, languages, experiences, cultural production, and representations of and by Jews in and from Latin America and the Caribbean. Our conferences provide a stimulating and collegial environment for presenting research and creating lasting transnational networks among participants. Graduate students working on Latin American and Caribbean Jewish topics are especially encouraged to apply.
Brandeis University - Schusterman Center for Israel Studies: Applications for the 2027 Summer Institute for Israel Studies

The Schusterman Center's Summer Institute for Israel Studies (SIIS) is a one-of-a-kind program dedicated to expanding Israel studies on a global scale. Summer Institute alumni have taught 2,100 courses about Israel to more than 36,000 students worldwide.

The Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) awards fellowships to postdocs conducting research in European history, the history of religion, and other historical disciplines (including Digital Humanities).
The IEG funds research projects on European history from the early modern period to contemporary history. We are particularly interested in projects

Forschungsprogramm der deutschen Akademien der Wissenschaften (Akademienprogramm) für 2029

Das Akademienprogramm ist das gemeinsame Forschungsprogramm der deutschen Akademien der Wissenschaften. Es dient der langfristigen Grundlagenforschung in den eisteswissenschaften und den historisch arbeitenden Rechts-, Wirtschafts- und Gesellschaftswissenschaften. Auch Forschungsfragen und Materialien im Überschneidungsfeld dieser Bereiche mit naturwissenschaftlichen Disziplinen können im Rahmen des Akademienprogramms bearbeitet werden. Die zentrale Aufgabe des Akademienprogramms besteht in der Erschließung, Sicherung und Erforschung kultureller Überlieferungen von herausragender fachwissenschaftlicher und gesellschaftlicher Relevanz.
