Dr. Uri Rosenberg on "Shared Citizenship" in Deeply Divided Societies

News

The discussion focuses on how belonging, conflict, and democracy are addressed in highly polarized societies.

Rosenberg, a postdoc at Heidelberg University and research associate at the Ben-Gurion Chair for Israel and Middle Eastern Studies, also explains why Israel, Turkey, and Cyprus are particularly insightful comparative cases for the project.

The conversation also addresses concrete visions of shared citizenship in everyday life, the differences and similarities between the three countries, and the question of how research can contribute to social cohesion. Last but not least, Rosenberg discusses where he sees hope in polarized societies and what lessons can be drawn from the research for European contexts as well.
