Objective
The project "Media literacy in the context of the Middle East conflict - countering left-wing extremism and conspiracy myths among pupils and students" will run from July 2025 to June 2028 and is funded by the program strand "Demokratie leben! Preventing Extremism" of the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ) with around 800,000 euros. The project aims to strengthen the prevention of extremism within the educational sector and to advance democratic approaches to conflict resolution in an exceptionally sensitive field.
Central target groups include secondary school pupils, university students - particularly those preparing for teaching careers - teachers, school social workers and multipliers. The initiative seeks to enable participants to counter (left-wing) extremist and antisemitic patterns of argumentation and to foster the capacity for nuanced, critically engaged, and empathetic examination of multiple perspectives on the Middle East conflict.
