Press Release

Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Werner Arnold! Our former rector received a letter from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in which he was invited by Prof. Tamir Sheafer, rector of the university, on the recommendation of Prof. Nissim Otmazgin, dean of the Faculty of Humanities, to serve as a Distinguished Fellow for the academic years 2025–2026. He was honored for his extraordinary contributions and distinguished career in the field of Semitic studies. The Hebrew University hopes to learn from Prof. Arnold's extensive knowledge and experience.

In addition to Prof. Arnold, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Martina Hartmann, President of Monumenta Germaniae Historica (MGH) in Munich, also received the title of Distinguished Fellow.

We are delighted to congratulate our former rector on this well-deserved award from the Hebrew University. Especially in these times, it is more than just an honor—it is a valuable sign of mutual solidarity.
