Press

Even in difficult times, science brings us together: the HfJS is very proud not only to have taken part in the 19th World Congress of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, but also to have organized a session. On the topic of "Filling the Void: Addressing Early Modern Jewish History in Games to Combat Right-Wing Extremism and Antisemitism - The Case of Joseph Süß Oppenheimer", Rabb. Prof. Dr. Birgit Klein(The Use of Digital Humanities, in Particular Games, to Impart Knowledge of Early Modern Jewish History) and her two research assistants Judith Damian(Getting your Head in the Game: Academic Challenges in Developing a Game about Jewish and Other Historical Figures) and David Lüllemann(A New Perspective on Joseph Suess Oppenheimer: Exploring Hebrew and Yiddish Correspondence) gave presentations. Damian also took the opportunity to present her dissertation project.

On Wednesday, August 7, David Gilinsky, research assistant at the Chair of Talmud, Codices and Rabbinic Literature, will give a lecture on Abu'l Barakat al-Baghdadi's Judeo-Arabic Kohelet commentary.
