The study of Jewish religious education deals with educational work in a wider social and scientific context. The subject is aimed at student teachers or students who are interested in community work.

In addition, the subject promotes general didactic skills that enable the processing, structuring and communication of complex knowledge. These skills are not only relevant for schools and communities, but also in fields such as science and university teaching, political education and anti-discrimination work.

Prof. Dr. Isabel Cranz has held the chair since April 2026.

On a coffee trip to Palestine via podcast

What is Chaluka? What are Zion tourists? And why should I organize a coffee trip to Palestine? Eric Stutzenberger on the quest for a Jewish nation state, support for the first settlements, and why a trip to Palestine might have more reasons than just visiting the kibbutzim. The podcast is divided into two parts: In the first, we talk about Eric's research for his master's thesis; in the second, he explains what else could be researched, such as the first study trips, and what he has only been able to take a brief look at (so far).
