Kosher canteen

The Mensa will be closed from 18 March to 14 April 2024!

Also from April 22 to May (Passover & Labor Day),

- on May 10 (bridging day),

- on May 31 (bridging day),

- on June 14 (bridging day).

Not only kosher, but also very tasty:

The HfJS canteen in the college's historic vault.

Overseen by the university's rabbi Janusz Pawelczyk-Kissin, and under the direction of canteen manager Beate Metwaly, the kosher canteen serves dairy kosher food and seasonal produce from the region - prepared fresh daily and with the utmost care. Based on the Jewish dietary laws (Kashrut), according to which milk and dairy products may not be eaten at the same time as meat dishes, the Mensa does not serve meat dishes or any other food containing meat products.
 

Opening hours and registration:

Monday-Friday: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

If you would like to eat in the Mensa, please register at mensa@hfjs.eu no later than 4:00 p.m. the day before.
Meals are served from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.

In addition, we offer a "Take Away" service.
Please also register for this the day before by mail (mensa@hfjs.eu). You can pick up your lunch between 13.00 and 13.30. For the sake of the environment we ask you to please bring your own containers.

Payment:

Use of the Mensa is only possible with the CampusCard of the HfJS or Heidelberg University. All further information on the use of the CampusCard can be found here.

It is not possible to pay with cash or to top up the card on site.
