Book owners

In the course of the project, we have now been able to identify several dozen owners of the books.

These include both persons who were victims of Nazi persecution and institutions that were forced to close down. Our goal is to identify as many of them as possible and to hand over the books to their descendants or successor organizations.

The "Washington Principles" as well as the "Common Statement" of the German Federal Government form the basis on which we have been able to support the project.

The restituted books including their provenance evidence are listed - as are the open cases - in the Looted Cultural Assets database.
