CURRICULUM VITAE
I was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel in 1977 and in 1999 completed my B.A. studies at the Open University focusing on History. In 2007 I received my M.A degree from Tel-Aviv University focusing on American History in the 20th century. My thesis subject was “Louis Armstrong, Jazz and American society” mainly thanks to the love of Jazz inherited to me by my father, Shlomo, who is a Jazz musician and the love of arts in general inherited to me by my mother, Havazelet, who holds a M.A. degree in Modern Art.
Between the years 2003 to 2007 I worked at “Mikve-Israel” which is the first Hebrew agricultural school in Palestine (Established at 1870), as a tutor and a history teacher. Later I developed a career as a self-employed lecturer, lecturing about American culture and mainly about American classic films and music. Published few articles concerning classic films such as: Casablanca, Bonnie and Clyde, The sounds of music and others and gave several radio interviews.
In between I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel some of the most beautiful spots on our planet such as: Jamaica, Thailand, Australia, Cuba and many countries in Europe.
After years of wandering I finally found my true love in the arms of Dana, who studies for her M.A. degree in Global History at Heidelberg University. We got married in 2/2009 and since July the same year we are living in Mannheim.
Since arriving to Germany I learned German at the “Mannheimer Abendakademie” and after completing the basic level I intend to continue and improve my knowledge of that fascinating language.
In the summer semester of 2010 I began my PhD studies at the HFJS under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Heil and Prof. Dr. Zalashik. Combining American history and Jewish history the title of my research is “The Halutz and the Cowboy – American influences on Zionism”. Through this research I hope to bring unique and original perspective to the understanding and research of Zionism and American history.
In my free time I do my best (not always successfully) to dedicate some time to my hobbies which are mainly piano playing and the Korean martial art – Taekwondo.
